77,000-Plant-Port Commercial Indoor Farm
NuLeaf Farms implemented Commercial Indoor Farm Automation for a 77,000-plant-port commercial indoor farm in Connecticut, USA. The project integrated automated fertigation, irrigation, and environmental monitoring. It also included centralized control and remote farm management to support reliable commercial lettuce production.

Commercial Indoor Farm Automation Challenge
As part of a community revitalization initiative, an underutilized industrial building was converted into a large-scale indoor farming operation capable of supplying fresh produce to regional wholesale markets. The project required a scalable automation platform capable of supporting commercial production while minimizing labour requirements.
NuLeaf Automation Solution
NuLeaf designed and supplied the complete automation system, including the Leaf control platform, fertigation skid, irrigation management, environmental monitoring, and centralized control architecture. The Root software platform provides real-time production data, equipment monitoring, alarm notifications, historical trends, and remote access. These tools help operators maintain consistent crop production across a facility with more than 77,000 growing ports.

Commercial Indoor Farm Automation Results
Today, the facility produces commercial volumes of teen leaf lettuce for wholesale distribution throughout Connecticut. Automation has reduced operational complexity while providing the customer with a flexible platform capable of supporting future expansion and continuous production. Operators can monitor equipment performance, receive alarm notifications, review historical production trends, and remotely access the farm through the Root software platform. This project demonstrates the value of integrated automation. It improves production consistency, increases operational visibility, and provides a scalable foundation for future commercial indoor farming operations. The centralized control system also simplifies day-to-day farm management by bringing irrigation, fertigation, and environmental controls into a single platform. Real-time monitoring allows operators to respond quickly to changing conditions, helping maintain consistent crop quality while reducing manual oversight. The platform continues to support reliable year-round commercial production.
