First Nations Greenhouse Expansion Challenge

A First Nations-owned business sought to expand its commercial greenhouse operations to support forestry restoration, native plant production, and long-term economic development. The objective was to build a modern, technology-enabled operation capable of producing high-quality seedlings and native species while creating local employment and establishing the foundation for future expansion into larger-scale agricultural production.

NuLeaf’s Native Plant Greenhouse Automation Solution

NuLeaf designed and implemented the Leaf automation platform throughout a 14,000-square-foot commercial greenhouse, integrating automated irrigation, environmental monitoring, roof vent control, roll-up sidewalls, and remote system management. The Root software platform provides operators with real-time performance monitoring, alarm notifications, historical reporting, and production analytics, enabling efficient operation while reducing manual oversight.

As the business continues to grow, NuLeaf is supporting additional expansion phases that include 60,000 square feet of outdoor growing space, upgraded water treatment infrastructure, expanded irrigation capacity, additional environmental controls, backup power systems, and the implementation of integrated business management software through the Root platform to support inventory, operations, and long-term production planning.

The greenhouse has become an important commercial asset for the First Nations business, supporting the production of forestry seedlings and native plant species for ecological restoration, reclamation, and landscaping projects throughout the region.
